    Working Principle

    When the screw shaft rotates, due to the gravity of the materials and the friction force generated between the materials and the wall of the trough, the materials can only move forward along the bottom of the conveyor trough under the push of the blades. This situation is similar to a non-rotating nut moving translationally along a rotating screw. The movement of materials at the intermediate bearing relies on the thrust of the materials moving forward from behind. Therefore, the transportation of materials in the conveyor is entirely a sliding movement.

    To keep the screw shaft in a more favorable tension state, the driving device and the discharge port are generally installed at the same end of the conveyor, while the feed port is placed as close as possible to the tail of the other end. The rotating screw blades push the materials to convey them. The surface type of the blades includes solid surface type, belt surface type, vane surface type, etc., depending on the type of materials being conveyed.

    The screw shaft of the screw conveyor is equipped with a thrust bearing at the end in the direction of material movement to withstand the axial reaction force exerted by the materials on the screw. When the length of the conveyor is relatively long, intermediate suspension bearings should be added.
