    Electrodialysis Membrane Properties and Process Reactions

    The semipermeable membranes used in electrodialysis are actually a type of ion exchange membrane. Based on the charge property of ions, these ion exchange membranes can be divided into two categories: cation exchange membranes (cation membranes) and anion exchange membranes (anion membranes). In an aqueous electrolyte solution, cation membranes allow cations to pass through while repelling and blocking anions, and anion membranes allow anions to pass through while repelling and blocking cations—this is the selective permeability of ion exchange membranes.
