A filter press utilizes the pressure difference on both sides of the filter cloth to force most of the water in the material to pass through the filter cloth and flow out of the machine body. Meanwhile, the material is retained in the filter chamber to form filter cakes, thereby achieving the purpose of filtration. During the filtration process, a significant pressure difference exists between the two sides of the filter cloth, which increases the filtration speed and reduces the moisture content of the filter cakes. Additionally, the use of a specially made filter cloth ensures that the filtrate is clear, resulting in a much better filtration effect compared to vacuum filters.

Even when handling difficult-to-filter materials, filter presses still deliver excellent performance. They are easy to undergo anti-corrosion treatment, feature a simple structure, convenient operation, and are more affordable than other types of filters. Therefore, choosing a filter press as your dewatering equipment is an optimal choice.
Currently, filter presses are widely used in industries such as chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, ceramics, sugar refining, pigments, dyes, cement, and silicates. They are also applied in municipal and industrial sludge dewatering.
Working Principle
Before operation, the filter cloth is wrapped around the filter plates. Then, the filter press is activated to drive the pressing rods, which tightly compress the filter plates against the pressure plate. The feed pump is started to pump the material into the filter press through the feed inlet. The material enters the filter chambers via the channels on the filter plates. Under the pressure of the feed pump, the clear filtrate passes through the filter cloth and enters the densely distributed dot-shaped filter surfaces on the filter plates. It then flows through the channels on the filter plates into the filtrate outlet, where it is collected and discharged from the machine.
The filter cake is trapped in the filter chambers until the chambers are fully filled with the filter cake. After that, the feed pump is stopped, the pressure plate is released, and the filter plates are pulled one by one toward the pressure plate to remove the filter cake from the frames. Subsequently, the machine re-enters the next working cycle.
