  • Overview
    • Commodity name: Zinc plating wastewater

Zinc plating refers to the surface treatment of metals, alloys, or other materials by coating them with a layer of zinc for aesthetic purposes and rust prevention. However, it causes severe pollution to the surrounding environment, is highly carcinogenic, and is subject to strict environmental controls. In recent years, with the frequent occurrence of pollution problems, the water and air pollution caused by galvanizing have resulted in significant economic losses and personal injury to the public.

Zinc plating plants mainly process standard parts through high-temperature degreasing, pickling to remove rust, and zinc plating coloring. Strongly acidic hydrochloric acid is the main processing raw material. Wastewater containing hydrochloric acid discharged by small galvanizing plants usually also contains heavy metals and other toxic and harmful substances, leaving no vegetation in its wake.

Zinc plating wastewater contains large amounts of acid and chromium. Direct discharge of this water will kill crops and trees, and the wastewater will sink at a rate of 20 meters per year, polluting groundwater. Furthermore, the gases produced during the electroplating process can harm the human respiratory system, with very serious consequences. Therefore, the wastewater treatment system of this project adopts a treatment process flow of "equalization tank + reduction tank + coagulation reaction tank + sedimentation tank + filtration".
